If you've stumbled upon this page, it is likely because you may be looking for support, guidance, or just someone who can understand you. Well, I'm so grateful that you've stumbled across this page!
My name is Kat Nazaroff and I am a Psychotherapist in the Houston area. I have a social work degree and a passion for helping people to identify and own their own stories. When I was growing up, every time my family would gather, we would tell the same family stories over and over and over again. It likely got old after a while but it was what connected us. Those shared experiences bound us together and let us know we weren't alone. I believe there is power in our stories. The struggle comes in when our stories leave us feeling anxious, depressed, or with feelings of shame. My therapeutic approach is to collaborate with you on what parts of your story do you want to own and what parts do you want to re-write.
I specialize in addiction, anxiety and mood disorders, history of trauma and difficulties stemming from family of origin experiences, low self-esteem and post-partum mood and anxiety disorders. I have experience working with personality disorders and more complex mental illness. While knowing those things may be helpful, I believe in a wholistic form of treatment. It's important that we look at the whole picture and not just one element.
I have specific training and certifications in Eye Movement Desensitization and Repossessing Therapy (EMDR), Motivational Interviewing, Post-partum Mood and Anxiety Disorders, and I am a Certified Daring Way Facilitator™.
