I strongly believe you should feel comfortable with the therapist you choose to work with. I view our relationship collaboratively. You are the expert on your own life but it can be difficult to see your life experiences in an objective manner. This is our work in therapy! My approach is largely based on a variety of theoretical approaches which include psychodynamic, attachment, family of origin, family systems, existential, mindfulness, cognitive behavioral, and experiential. My treatment approach is based on your specific needs identified in our initial sessions.
I work with adults, couples, and families who all present with a variety of different struggles. At the top of my website, you will find more information on specific areas of specialty such as Recovery, EMDR, Postpartum support, and The Daring Way founded by Brene Brown.
I received my Undergraduate degree in Exercise Sports Science with a minor in Social Work from Texas State University in San Marcos, Texas. I had (and still do have) a passion for understanding the physical body and how to heal from the trauma caused. However, throughout my time in college, I recognized that I focused less on the physical ailments and wanted to learn more about how my clients were impacted emotionally. Our bodies hold on to emotional stress that we have not yet been able to process or understand. I wanted to learn more about guiding people through the emotional component while also honoring their physical self. I received my Masters of Social Work from the Graduate College of Social Work at the University of Houston and have truly found my home in Social Work.
To ensure that we are a good fit, I am happy to offer a free 15 minute consultation. Maybe you don't know what you're looking for in a therapist? Give me a call so we can talk more about therapy! If we determine that it is not a good fit, I will do my best to help you identify next steps.
